Jempol Water Treatment Plant upgraded in a collaboration of SAINS, PAAB and SPAN
JEMPOL: Dec 6 – Implementation ceremony for the upgrading project of Jempol’s Water Treatment Plant held in the compounds of the plant (LRA Jempol) this afternoon was officiated by Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Haji Hasan.
Communities in Jempol especially Bandar Bahau, Taman Mahsan, Bandar Sri Jempol, Felda Raja Alias, Pekan Air Hitam, Felda Lui, Kampung Serting, Kampung Bayai, Batu Kikir, Kuala Jelai, Pekan Rompin and Kampung Geddes can rest assured there will be no shortage in water supply in their respective areas.
Jempol Water Treatment Plant which began its operations in 1978 will be upgraded, as Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan Sdn. Bhd. (SAINS) and Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) have combined forces in an effort to improve treated water supply from 8 million gallons a day to 12 million gallons a day, once the upgrading project is completed in 2013.
Apart from increasing treated water capacity, the upgrading project will also involve replacement of older AC type pipes and installation of pressure control valves in Palong along with booster pumps in Palong 8.
According to Menteri Besar, the State Government will always be ahead in providing improved living standards for its citizens and reducing the burden of its people mainly with overcoming problem related to water supply.
Menteri Besar extended, “Jempol community’s dilemma at this moment is not due to water shortages by SAINS but roots from decayed and corroded pipes, water thefts, old malfunctioning meters and the increased population density in surrounding vicinity.”
“Therefore, the State Government has endeavored through SAINS, an agency incorporated to cooperate with PAAB for this effort. Through this effort, this upgrading project will be perfected with better efficacy”, Menteri Besar furthered.
Menteri Besar also explicated PAAB will bear the expenditures for upgrading Jempol Water Treatment Plant (LRA Jempol) as the State Government has signed a cooperative MoU.
Water supply infrastructure improvement efforts will continue to be implemented all over Negeri Sembilan with the collaboration between the State Government, PAAB, SPAN and SAINS.
Also present were Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali, Chairman of PAAB, Dato’ Teaw Yen Huaw, Chief Executive Officer of SPAN, Dato’ Lillah Yasin, Parliament Respresentative of Jempol, and Dato’ Rosman Abdullah, Chief Executive of SAINS.
